What I'm Learning in School - First Grade

I have eight types of things to do for school.  Mom says they're called courses.

The first one is Religion.  I learn about God.  I like to do religion because I get to do it on the computer.

The second one is Math.  I'm learning how to add stuff.  Soon I'll learn how to subtract.  And also I'm going to learn how to read clocks soon, but I already know how to do that.

There's a lot of things I do for Language Arts.  I do Grammar, which is just working with Mama and learning things like "A noun is the name of a person, place, thing or idea."

Next is Poetry.  This week, I'm memorizing "All That is Gold" by J. R. R. Tolkien.

For Spelling, I'm learning how to write and looking at parts of words like vowel chunks and silent letters.

In Reading, I'm reading Boxcar Children with Mommy.  Last time, I read one page and Mom read one page.

The fourth course is Latin.  In Latin, I have to watch the chants and sometimes there's parts of a story.

Next is History.  We listen to an audiobook and color a page while we listen.  Then we have to answer Review Questions for Mom.

Sixth is Science.  And for science, I'm learning about animals on a farm.  I love science.

The seventh course is Fine Arts.  That's supposed to be piano and art, but right now it just means art.  I like art because I get to learn how to color better, which I love to do.

The last course is Electives.  There's three things in Electives.  We have Typing, Blogging (which I'm doing right now), and Geography.

Every week on Monday, we get a new page that has all our assignments.  I keep it on a clipboard.  I get to scratch off whatever I've done and see what to do next.

I am 6 years old, and my name is Ella.
